Happy New Year!

Congress and the President gave the American p0eople a Christmas gift by extending the Tax credit by two months.  Are they serious?!  If that is their idea of a gift, they need to go home and stay home.  ALL of them!
How dare they squabble over a tax credit of a lousy $1,000 that equals to about $40 a month.  If they were serious, they7 should have doubled that credit to at least $2,000 and even then that’s not enough.  Did they forget the American people are hurting financially due to their (Congress) mess?
Furthermore, how dare the Republican’s attach the Keystone pipeline deal to the law.  What’s worst is how they claim it will put 5,000 people to work without mentioning how it will destroy our eco system and keep us dependent on oil.
If the Republicans were serious about putting American’s back to work they would stop trying to keep tax increase from taking effect on the top 1% of the population.  You know, those who are so wealthy that they sit on their money as they have so much of it, they don’t know what to do with it.
As for the Democrats, how dare they back down on their stance of Keystone only to allow a two month extension of the tax credit.  If they are going to be hypocrites then they should have held out for the one year extension.
Finally, the sheep known as the American public continues to allow this B.S. to happen.  It’s your money, stand up and demand to be heard!  Demand a larger tax credit and demand a full year extension.
2011 finishes out as the worst political year on record with more bickering then ever seen on both sides of the isle.
ENOUGH!
VOTE THEM OUT!  Every member of Congress that is up for reelection should be VOTED OUT!  NO EXCEPTIONS!
It’s time for true independents who can find the common ground of both parties to take leadership and to help make America strong again.

Call to Action

There is no doubt that we have been in campaign mode for the 2012 elections for longer then we need to be.  The battle lines have been drawn by both major political parties at the expense of the American people, and even though poll after poll shows that the American public is tired of the BS, we the American people keep allowing it to happen.  Why?
Why do we keep picking sides; Republican or Democrat instead of saying NO to either one of them?  With polls ranging from 60% – 80% against both parties (Congress & the President specifically) that is enough people to elect an independent party to shake things up.  Most importantly those disfranchised Americans will have such a large voice to scream, “Enough is Enough,” and “Vote them Out”, that both big parties will realize they need to change how they operate and who they represent.
The biggest group that has been screaming the loudest in recent times is the Occupy movement, but their own failures keeps them from being a valid concern in this election cycle.  In fact, most of the loudest voices from the group actually support not voting, total Anarchy, etc., everything against the current political system which actually gives the Demarcates and the Republicans more power.  Those two groups have been working against the disfranchised in American for years.  Catering to their core base and working hard to get the core to vote, not working for the disfranchised to vote.  Therefore, what Occupy wants, which is a major change in our political system, will not happen because they will not vote to make the change happen.
This is an opportunity for the Independents to work together as a coalition uniting their members and becoming a major political force in American politics.  But do they have the guts and will power to make that happen or will they succumb to their own self interest and remain futile and just an annoyance to the two party system?
Americans for Common Ground has chosen to take on the two big parties by working with the various independent parties to create and motivate a coalition that can take on the big two for local elections during 2012 and for the presidency in 2016.
In order to accomplish this, future politicians who truly understand who they work for; the American public, must also be willing to find and work within common ground that helps everyone, thus the majority of Americans not corporate America.  They must be willing to sacrifice their own personal interest of a political career for the betterment of Americans.  Another way of putting it would be this: An independent political person willing to work for his country for low wages only for the sole purpose of representing those who elected him to make our country strong and respected for the right reasons in the worlds eyes.
No politician should be getting elected to office so they can line their pockets with greed at the expense of the American public.  Now is there someone strong enough to take on that challenge?  We at Americans for Common Ground believe there is and we look forward to finding that person and introducing them to America.

This is a response to a posting on the Occupy Austin web site by Rochelle:

You are right with what you wrote; it would be a challenge to get someone elected other than a Demo or Repub, but it can be done.  Over the years many Indy parties have gotten good voter turnout, sadly they have not had the full support of the other Indy parties or of the American people as they feel an Indy can't really win.  It is this concept that Benjamin and I want to change.  As we worked through the process of creating a political party, we found that there are so many others out there that are along the same basic lines, and that if they were united could really make a change in our political system.  Thus, Benjamin and I are working now towards creating the first Indy Party convention where all small independent (and large ones as well) parties can come together and work for a common cause.

This would truly be a ground breaking event that would impact the political system for years to come.  By working together, we can initiate a revolution through smaller positions and working our way up.  After all, if any one of the Repub candidates that are trying to get elected to president can do it, there is absolutely NO reason that an Indy who is smarter and more focused on moving ALL of America forward can't win.

We need help though, as this will be a major undertaking.  Thus, anyone reading this and is interested in helping in some way, please feel free to contact us at: AforCG@live.com and add us to your twit’s as #AforCG, or our blog at www.AforCG.blogspot.com.

Indy Convention

There are well over 40 different political parties in America.  Some are almost duplicates as they are splinters from other party's.  With all of these different types of groups, it is not a surprise that an Independent politician can successfully win a position, especially the Presidency.  And yet, if all of these groups pulled their resources together and worked for a common cause, they could in fact win the highest office in our country.

Therefore, the American's for Common Ground are proposing an Independent Political Party convention to be held in May or June 2012 in Austin, TX.  We hope you will consider joining us and helping us to find a candidate that may not win in 2012, but WILL win in 2016 while at the same time finding others who want to win in their local areas.

As a united front of Independent Parties, we can create a platform that is acceptable to all parties while at the same time making it workable and acceptable to the average American, something they want.

11-23-11 Miss-information

On our local news station KXAN a report was issued about the cost of maintaining the facilities that the Occupy Austin group as occupied.  The statement was that $10,000 was spent to keep it clean.  What was not mentioned is the fact that Occupy Austin has asked the city to paint, clean and maintain the facilities themselves, including offering money to help offset the expense.
This bias report is clearly another sign of how the City of Austin is trying to discredit the movement in the hopes of bringing it to an end.  What this does in fact do is create a stronger resolve of the movement to stay put.  Constantly we see false information, or miss-leading information being sent out via the press to discredit the movement, and while it is understandable as a tactical move, it is a greater shame to see the press play to that concept without really researching the cost and or the truthfulness behind the cities claims.  The press is meant to be neutral and to only report a fair and honest report of what is happening, what happen to that concept?  Has every station moved further and further to a point of representing one point of view, that of their corporate owners?
The movement does continue to get stronger because of this unfair act by the Cities who want to end the movement and by the press who does not do their job.
Another issue is the fact that someone who wishes to get greedy off the movement has issued an eBook of the OWS group and the movement as a whole without having all the facts.  Again, the press has played to this and pushes out false information.  Change needs to happen on so many levels, as a member of one of the organizations coming out of the movement, I hope to do my part in making that change happen and fast.

National Call to “Vote them Out!”

Austin, TX – Once again, the political rhetoric that divides our country continues to delay our economic recovery while allowing for corporations and the wealthy 1% to continue to profit from the misery that most Americans are currently suffering.

While our voices may be muted by politicians who are afraid of what we stand for, we are defiant in our cause and our current objective to Vote Them Out!

This national campaign is geared towards every Senator and House of Representative that is up for re-election in 2012.  Their failure to work together for the common ground of every American clearly illustrates that they have chosen not to represent the people who elected them to office, they must go.

A loud and clear voice will be heard on Election Day by those who remain in elected office that the American people are tired of business as usual.

Americans for Common Ground is a national political action grouped formed out of the Occupy movement.  They are a non-partisan organization based in Austin, Texas.
